Jelena Dokic born on 12 April 1983 in Osijek in Crotia (former
Yugoslavia). Later in 1991due to the Yugoslav wars, her family fled to
Sombor, Serbia. Jelena Dokic played for Serbia and later to Australia.
Jelena Dokic came to limelight when she - as an unseeded player - defeated the then world No.1
Martina Hingis 6-2 6-0 in the 1st round of 1999 Wimbledon tournament.
During her prime, Jelena Dokic was ranked No.4 in WTA Singles rankings
and defeated No. 1 ranked Kim Clijsters ( 2003 Zurich Open Tennis) and
in form Venus Williams (1999).
Jelena Dokic won 5 singles tournaments and reaching finals of 7 other before parting ways with her father Damir Dokic.
Even after rejoining her family, Jelena Dokic suffered many first round
defeats in hands of unseeded and unheard players. Right now Jelena is
under going training in the Iva Majoli tennis academy.
Until last year, Jelena Dokic has estimated to have earned over $3.7 million in prize money alone.
